Thank you, thank you, thank you
There are a few blogs and websites I like to go to to discuss get new ideas, discuss religious issues and such. A common thread I come across for several years in churches of Christ is related to the use of instrumental music and probably more recently over the roles of women in the church. I don't feel it is necessary to discuss my understanding of the scriptures here....in fact I'm still learning. But one thing that I feel convicted of is that we haven't done a good job of recognizing the important role of women in our churches. I'm not calling for drastic change, but I'm saying let's give credit where credit is due. So let me put it plainly, if it were not for all the hard working, gifted and talented women at South Main (and churches throughout the world for that matter), our children's ministry and the majority of ministries would fall apart. So please don't plan a strike anytime soon. I know your reward is in heaven and you don't necessarily desire to be recognized. But for all you teachers, all you organizers, all you workroom people, all you wives of elders and deacons that get no glory, but still do a lot of the work and deal with the fallout....THIS POST'S FOR YOU!
In The Beginning
As we begin a new school year, please be praying for God to lead our children’s ministry. As you consider and pray for our children‘s ministry, consider these words from Deuteronomy 6. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
